The MDCAT aggregate formula
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| MDCAT | 50% |
| FSc / HSSC (or equivalent) | 40% |
| Matric / SSC (or equivalent) | 10% |
Worked example
Say a student scored 1000/1100 in Matric, 950/1100 in FSc and 160/180 in MDCAT:
- Matric: 1000 ÷ 1100 × 10 = 9.09
- FSc: 950 ÷ 1100 × 40 = 34.55
- MDCAT: 160 ÷ 180 × 50 = 44.44
- Aggregate: 9.09 + 34.55 + 44.44 = 88.08%
To reach 90%, the same student would need 167/180 in MDCAT.
What one MDCAT mark is really worth
When the totals are 1100 and 180, each mark adds this much to your aggregate:
| One mark in | Adds to your aggregate |
|---|---|
| MDCAT | 0.278 |
| FSc | 0.036 |
| Matric | 0.009 |
So one MDCAT mark is worth about 7.6 FSc marks and about 30 Matric marks. Your Matric marks are already fixed, and FSc gets harder to raise late on. MDCAT is where a few weeks of focused practice can still move your merit. Start with the preparation guide.
Older aggregate formulas
People also search for the 2020, 2021 and 2022 formulas. Rules and paper totals changed during those years, so old calculators can give the wrong answer today. For a current application, use the current formula from your province's admission policy. For an old score, enter the total printed on your result card.
What aggregate do you need?
That depends on the year, province, college and seat type. Our merit list guide explains how to check closing merit using official lists.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my MDCAT aggregate?
Divide your marks by the total in each exam, then multiply: Matric by 10, FSc by 40 and MDCAT by 50. Add the three results together to get your aggregate.
What is the MDCAT aggregate formula?
Aggregate = (Matric marks ÷ Matric total × 10) + (FSc marks ÷ FSc total × 40) + (MDCAT marks ÷ MDCAT total × 50).
Is the formula the same in every province?
The 50/40/10 split was stated by SZABMU under the PM&DC 2025 Regulations and was reported for Punjab in 2026-27. NUMS, AKU and some private colleges may use their own methods, so check the prospectus of the college you are applying to.
What if my board total is 1200 and not 1100?
Enter your own total in the calculator. The formula uses your percentage, so different totals still work.
Which total should I use for an older MDCAT score?
Use the total shown on your result card. Older tests were not always out of 180, so change the MDCAT total box if yours was different.
Are Part 1 marks enough for the calculator?
You can use them for an estimate, but admission uses your final FSc marks. Enter your expected marks, and treat the answer as a projection.
